Several years ago Arizona State University began offering learning support in statistics to graduate students in addition to their graduate writing center. As a Graduate Statistics Consultant for several years, I observed first-hand the wide-ranging need for graduate-level statistics learning support and research guidance.
While our writing center colleagues frequently refer students to Online Writing Labs such as Purdue OWL, we noticed there were few learning resources for statistics and research methodology at the graduate level. Mostly, training has been left to the individual programs. Yet, our experience has shown that students across the curriculum share many of the same concerns and that specialized resources can improve learning and reduce anxieties about the statistics and research.
The Online Graduate Statistics Lab is a place to collect and distribute helpful learning materials and to advocate for campus-based statistics learning support.
